(So, let's try to write some English).
It seems that some people have found this blog by googling "fat bike". That is good, because a fat bike is truly an ingenious way to move oneself from place a to place b - often via places a.a, a.b
und so weiter.
I bought my fat bike, a 20" Surly Pugsley last winter after drooling after one a few months. Of course I had seen a fat bike's review in a magazine, Fillari-lehti back in 2005 or something. In Finland there were not many brands to choose from - basically the choices were Salsa, Surly or 9 Zero 7.
I chose Surly because I wanted sliding dropouts to fit an internal gear hub - in this case an Alfine 8 which has all the gear inches I need except the 17 g.i. crawling gear. Besides, I tend to end in places where derailleurs are destroyed easily. And I like the clean looks of an IGH (I had been riding only fixed gear bikes for last 4 years.
Between a Pugsley or Moonlander I took good ole Pug as I figured that 3.8 inch tyres with 82 mm rims will be sufficient, and Pugs was cheaper than an ML. The Necromancer could have been nice too but I did not want a black frame.
So, I marched to an excellent LBS Foxcomp and told that I would like to buy a Pugsley with these specs, what would you suggest to fill up the gaps. Two weeks after that I was a happy owner of a brand new fat bike. I have been riding my Pug for five months and approximately 2K+ kilometers and I've been loving almost every moment.
As for the build, it is quite basic: holy Darryls, Larry+Endo, Avid Elixir 1 etc. I also have two Black Floyds which are very fun in a city or dry trails, but suck in certain circumstances. For the upcoming muddy season and winter I will probably buy a Nate as my Endo is already somewhat slick.
